BUILT
ON ELEVEN AND A HALF ACRES OF VIRGIN FOREST
bordering
an enormous lake, lies this Eco Resort. Lovely stone structures
peep from behind massive old trees that hold a multitude of birds
that fly among the upper branches. Between the tree trunks you
can catch a glimpse of the lake and, if you are lucky, a group
of elephants coming for a drink.
Mingled
with bird sounds is the sound of waterfalls as the picturesque
pool constructed on two levels spills from one level to the next.
This friendly paradise reminds the observer that this is an Eco
resort right down to the nightclub (constructed entirely out of
Eco friendly material) so as to respect the quiet surroundings.
Rest
and relaxation come in the form of the soothing built-in Jacuzzi
and an Ayurveda medical center with traditional sauna and steam
bath. A fully equipped Gymnasium plus squash, table tennis, badminton,
volleyball and basketball are available for the active.
A
lovely craft center sells locally produced batik and woodcarvings
and is worth a visit.
Four
restaurants on the premises include a hopper boutique (traditional
Sri Lankan) a jungle BBQ restaurant set amongst the trees, a main
restaurant and a 24-hour coffee shop. Three bars also keep you
well hydrated.
All
rooms are either deluxe chalets or suites with air conditioning,
mini bar, hair dryer on request and cable TV. Spacious rooms lead
to open air bathrooms on the ground floor with herbal shampoo,
oil and soap specially manufactured for in-house guests.
Already the holder of the 'Green Globe Certificate' (only two
in Sri Lanka), plans are underway to further increase Eco awareness
here. To this end they already have on board an Eco Manager and
plans to set up an Eco office handling awareness programs, special
treks and excursions to national parks in the vicinity.
