THE BEACH LOCATION AND PROXIMITY TO THE AIRPORT
make
Goldi Sands a popular choice, especially for those looking for
a small, friendly hotel. There's a "family run" atmosphere
with a manager who has been with the hotel for over 20 years and
a number of other long serving staff.
Though
it was built in 1974 the hotel has been regularly renovated and
current renovations include new shower cubicles, resurfacing of
the pool area, and the addition of a new banqueting room, with
multi-media conference facilities. Added to the jewellery shop
and the charming shop selling hand-painted textiles and souvenirs,
is a new shop selling brand-name clothing and an Internet café.
There is also a new lounge bar, which is popular in the evenings
and a games room/ bar with table tennis, darts, a piano, TV and
a pool table. Organised evening entertainment includes a calypso
band, live band, piano evenings and cultural shows. During the
day, guests are left to relax and enjoy the pool and the beach.
All
the 70 rooms are identical, with a terrace on the ground floor
and balcony on the upper floor. They are all air conditioned but
only between 5.00pm - 8.30am as guests tend to spend the day on
the beach or by the pool. All the rooms are sea facing: one wing
with a view directly over the beach, and the other opening onto
an attractive garden between the rooms and the pool, with the
sea beyond.
The
guests here are mostly English and mainly on half-board. Breakfast
and dinner are buffets with a variety of theme nights, though
this may vary in the off season.
All in all, it's an easy-going place, with just enough fairly
subdued evening entertainment to round off a relaxing day on the
beach.
