THE HOTEL IS A MODERN STRUCTURE,
designed
to cater to practically any need, with 38 standard rooms, 2 deluxe
suites and 10 chalets. In addition to having a fully equipped
small conference hall and a gym, the Oasis also has a squash court,
tennis court, a pool and jacuzzi, beach volleyball and indoor
games. The open-air cocktail bar leads into an air-conditioned
restaurant that seats 100 people comfortably and is a non-smoking
area, but you can also have a meal on the terrace just outside.
The Bush Bar inside is inviting and well stocked, has a pool table
and is equipped with Karaoke facilities in case you develop a
fancy to rival the birds!
Although
The Oasis serves mainly western cuisine to accommodate the majority
of its clientele, eastern tastes are also catered for and, depending
on occupancy, the chef can cook up a storm of buffets ranging
from Italian or Chinese to Seafood and barbecues. There is the
occasional active evening here, when calypso bands are brought
in, and the hotel also hosts 'Paduru (mats) Parties' where the
guests are treated to traditional Sri Lankan music and dance.
At
the end of the day you can soothe your aching limbs with a full
body massage by professionals trained in Ayurveda and Aromatherapy.
These sessions take place in a cool, dark wattle and daub hut
close to the beach, where all you can hear are bird song and the
sound of the waves slapping the seashore.
You
can relax on your private balcony and watch the mynahs, parakeets
and odd moorhens that are attracted to this large landscaped garden.
The bedrooms are extremely comfortable and the warm colours will
make you feel at home. If you aren't feeling sociable, you could
stay in, watch TV or listen to music, call home, or do your laundry.
Interesting
places to visit include the Buduruwagala temple, and the wildlife
sanctuaries of Bundala and Uda Walawe.
