JUST TEN MINUTES DRIVE FROM THE CITY CENTER,
this
gem nestles atop a hill. You will love the serenity and beauty
of the green undulating landscape - graceful palms, shady trees,
many of them flowering in shades of pale pink to flaming red and
yellow, flowering creepers, birds singing and chirping. Across
valleys and hills overlooking picturesque houses, the wavy grey-green
line of hills encircles the horizon.
The
reception and the lobby-bar with glass panes for walls, set the
tone of the place - clean, bright, open to the panorama of the
hills. It's a delight to sit in the comfortable sofas with your
drink in the evening while a live band plays soft music.
The
attentive staff ensure personalised service and a noticeable cleanliness.
The spacious rooms, tastefully and functionally furnished, are full
of light. Some of them look over the city, while others overlook
the folds of hills. The suites have a sitting room and a minibar.
These and 35 other rooms have bathtubs in the attached shower/toilets.
Although all rooms have air-conditioners, you can happily switch
them off and open the windows to your cosy balcony - here even summer
is not hot and humid, but warm and soothing.
The
restaurant offers excellent Sri Lankan rice and curry. Guests
have a choice of eating here or at the restaurant of its neighbouring
sister hotel.
Four
days a week they have karaoke in the fourth floor rooftop bar
- a lovely glass-walled hall with an open terrace where small
conferences or wedding receptions can also be held.
On
different terraces of the hill lies the flood-lit swimming pool
(a large one with a kiddies corner), tennis court and a spacious
children's park. The surrounding slopes and banks are nice walks
if you don't mind a little exercise!
The
hotel has air conditioned vehicles and will arrange excursions
around town and further afield. The staff are familiar with German
and French.
