BUILT MAINLY OF BLACK STONE AND WOOD,
Koggala
Beach Hotel is the longest hotel in Sri Lanka. This is because
all the rooms face the ocean - a lovely view to wake up to. There
aren't many hotels in the area, so it's quiet, clean and peaceful
here, and the sea is safe to swim in.
The
hotel caters to those making a long stay, and provides ample entertainment
in addition to having facilities such as fitness and massage centers,
tennis courts and in-house shops that can accommodate all your
needs. The pool has a jacuzzi and a kids' area, and plenty of
shade is provided all over the garden.
The
rooms are fairly large and airy. Simply decorated in black and
white, with a woodcarving above the bed, they also have little
patios that open onto the sea. The little luxuries of hot and
cold water, air conditioning, phones and piped music are available
and the hotel also has 15 deluxe rooms, fitted with TVs (local
& foreign channels), mini-bars and 24 bungalows with four
family rooms. Koggala Beach also accommodates 125 in their conference
hall, which is well equipped, and you can check your email while
you stay here. The whole atmosphere of the place is very cheerful
and relaxed, and the staff will look after you well.
Two
restaurants offer à la carte service, buffets and set menus
and the variety of food here ranges from Asian to Italian. Special
meals for children and vegetarians are provided on request. There
are also two well-stocked bars, and most of the nightly activities
take place in the Lobby bar. Here you will see anything from magic
and cultural shows to live bands and fire limbos. There is also
a calypso band every night to serenade your dinners and a disco
to take the party well on into the night.
There
is plenty to keep you happy here. Try your hand at archery, volleyball,
or take a catamaran ride down the famed Koggala River. You can
hire a boat and go fishing, skiing, diving, snorkeling or just
explore the surrounding area.
