SEASHELLS HOTEL IS WELL-DESIGNED AND WELL-POSITIONED,

making the most of its attractive beach setting. There's a wonderful, natural progression from the lobby through to a large, light open, sitting area onto a wide colonnaded veranda and down past immaculately kept grass onto the beach. The entire building faces the sea; it's cool and breezy and has a "family hotel" ethos. The mood is informal and personal. Several of the staff have been here for many years, and have developed a good relationship with guests who return year after year.

All the rooms are sea-facing, with double or twin beds, tastefully decorated with pretty arrangements of fresh flowers for arriving guests. Only 10 of the 72 rooms are air conditioned, but the rest are kept pleasantly cool by wide terraces on the ground floor and good sized balconies on the upper floor.

The restaurant, like the reception /sitting area below it, is designed to make the most of the sea view and is open and airy. Adjoining the restaurant is the main bar, a large and pleasant area, with table tennis, darts, and a TV. There is also a popular pool bar.

As the vast majority of the mainly English and German guests are here on an all-inclusive holiday, the quality of the food is important. At Seashells they certainly won't be disappointed. All three meals are buffet and they are very good, with a wide variety of both Western & Sri Lankan dishes, beautifully presented. There is also an à la carte menu, with discounted rates for all inclusive guests.

Another important aspect for the all inclusive clientele is the entertainment. Here there is something organised every day, including more unusual activities such as archery and boules. Evenings too are fairly lively with some form of entertainment every night, including cultural shows and live bands.
This is a hotel with a good atmosphere, its own identity and a management with an eye for detail.
