THE FLOOR TO CEILING WINDOWS OF THE LOBBY
at
the Sunflower Beach Hotel welcome guests with a view of palm trees,
bougainvillea around a large swimming pool, and the sea beyond.
It is an attractive set-up and the mood is low key - quiet and
peaceful.
The
hotel has three floors, built in a curved L-shape with all 66
rooms over-looking the pool and the sea. The rooms are all standard
doubles with balconies, spacious and simply decorated. Eleven
of the rooms are air-conditioned, with more being fitted.
The main restaurant is on a wide shaded terrace which sweeps down
one side of the pool from the lobby to the beach, with tables
also set-up in an open, thatched, beach-front area. Most of the
mainly English, German, Swedish guests are on B/B or H/B and meals
are a combination of set and buffet. There is an indoor bar, with
TV, which is open until midnight and there is a calypso band entertaining
the guests during dinner, but apart from that, evenings are fairly
quiet and low-key.
The focus here is on total relaxation, and the pool area is ideal
for this. It is set far enough back from the beach to be completely
private and you could happily spend the day here, quite undisturbed.
The staff are discreet and there are no organised sports or activities
to disrupt the tranquility.
If
you want to be more active, the pool is a good size for swimming
and there is table tennis. There is also a paddling pool and the
L-shaped structure works well for families, enclosing the pool
area and making it safe and easy for parents to keep an eye on
the children from wherever they are.
The
beach is clean with an area in front of the hotel clearly, but
unobtrusively, marked out, which keeps touts and hawkers at bay.
Guests
of the Sunflower Beach Hotel appreciate the slow, relaxed nature
of the place, and the chance to completely unwind.
