AROUND THIS IDYLLIC HOTEL THERE SEEMS TO BE WATER EVERYWHERE
YOU LOOK
from
the passage way that leads from the reception, to the pools of
water between the chalets, to the massive lake that skirts the
compound.
The
lush woodland with its massive trees that surround the guest rooms,
seem to continuously look down at their reflection in the crystal
waters around them, holding them in a watery prison from which
they never seem to want to escape. Nature abounds at the tree
tops, where a group of monkeys try to outsmart a squirrel for
her nuts. And shy birds flit from branch to branch in a continuous
dance. Habarana Lodge has recently been named a 'bird friendly
hotel' - one of three in Sri Lanka - and organises bird watching
tours on request.
Each
chalet opens onto to its own unique view of nature. All chalets
are air conditioned and very comfortable. The superior rooms offer
a mini bar, cable television, and bath.
Set
apart from the chalets is the restaurant, with its large spaced
out pillars inviting the soft breezes that gently swoop around
the woodland. There is provision for smoke-free guestrooms and
dining areas in the restaurant.
For
the business traveler there are secretarial services available,
and the hotel also offers conferencing facilities and a reception
space for weddings.
There
is plenty of activity to enjoy at the hotel, including elephant
safaris, excursions, theme nights and a discotheque. Sports facilities
include outdoor tennis and badminton, table tennis, boating, canoeing,
billiards, jogging and bike trails. And of course the very inviting
pool set at the heart of the hotel complex.
A store offers a bit of everything that you forgot to bring plus
batik and handicrafts. A safety deposit box, a shoeshine service
and tailor are only a call away. And the Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment
Center offers a comprehensive list of alternative medical treatments.
