A GREAT PLACE FOR THE YOUNG AND EASY-GOING ON A BUDGET.
It
is undoubtedly well run yet sometimes it seems the staff are having
as much fun as the guests, it's that kind of place. Once you've
tried it, you might well come back for more, as the number of
repeat guests is unusually high.
All
the rooms are the same - they are large, pleasantly decorated
and each has a balcony facing the sea. Everyone is on an all-inclusive
package and the meals are all buffets, each night with a different
culinary theme. With everyone on the same deal, there are no distinctions
and the mixing is one of the hotel's strengths. The bar is a natural
gathering place, serving both the inside lounge, the veranda and
the outside pool areas. A recent redecoration has given it the
warm and cozy yet exotic feel of Morocco. There are low ceilings,
carved wooden trellises, embroidered cushions and paintwork of
reds, blacks and yellows all carefully aged. Calypso music, live
bands, cultural evenings and other fun events keep the evening
flowing along.
Between
the building and the beach, on one side is the swimming pool,
on the other is a large, tree-lined garden with the private/public
feel of a Tea Garden. This is perhaps the place to do your sunbathing,
with attentive service from the bar, and then, when the time's
right, it is just a stroll to the open beach and a refreshing
splash in the sea.
The
hotel is fortunate to be along the busy, buzzy stretch of beach
that is Beruwela and, at the same time, to have it's own small
inlet that gives it a little extra privacy. What's more there
is a line of reef here that runs just off-shore and creates a
calm swimming area just off shore.
For
an all-inclusive holiday, with a laid back and friendly atmosphere,
this is a good call.
